El cementerio de Lanús estuvo en la mira durante mucho tiempo de aquellos que cometen actos de vandalismo y robo de objetos. En los últimos 2 meses esa actividad se había acrecentado.
Con el correr de los días, las personas que pasaban a visitar las tumbas de sus seres queridos, detectaban que se había cometido el robo de placas y distintos objetos que tradicionalmente se colocan en las tumbas, nichos y bovedas. Desde la dirección del cementerio, en conjunto con el personal del mismo, la seguridad interna y la policía local; se dispuso un operativo para detectar a los responsables de los lamentables acontecimientos.
Fue así, que el día 20 de Marzo en horas de la tarde, efectivos de la Comisaría 10° de Villa Barceló lograron detener a un masculino de 53 años cuyo domicilio estaba inscripto en Temperley. El mencionado venía con una bicicleta de manera esporádica y simulaba hacer una visita de las que normalmente se realizan en el lugar. Pero luego de ser observado en distintas oportunidades por personal de cementerio, se detectó un grado de sospecha bastante elevado sobre la actividad ilícita que venía manteniendo.
Fue así que la atención se centró cada vez más sobre su figura, y en la jornada donde se produjo su detención, el autor de distintos robos trató de huir de la guardia del cementerio, pero finalmente fue alcanzado.
Entre sus pertenecías estaba la bicicleta de utilizaba para desplazarse, y una mochila para acumular las distintas placas que había arrancado de una importante cantidad de lápidas.
Finalmente las autoridades del cementerio vieron con tranquilidad que el dispositivo de control que se puso en marcha en las últimas semanas, dio los frutos buscados. Los objetos recuperados se encuentran en la dirección del cementerio a la espera de poder ser devueltos a las familias que lo reclamen.
